Ayurveda, the science of life has its origin in the Vedic period that goes back about 6000 years. Dhanwantari is considered to be the patron saint of Ayurveda.

The Ayurveda system is based on the famous ‘Tridosha siddhantha’ – Vatha,Pitta and Kapha.

Ayurveda is supported by the ‘panchamahabhootha siddhantha’, that nature is made up of five basic elements- Prithvi, Jala, Teja, Vayu and Akasha. There is a close relationship between the Tridosha Siddhanta and panchamahabhootha siddhantha. Prithvi and Jala from the Kappa Dosha, Vayu and Akasha from the Vatha Dosha andTeja form the Pitta Dosha.

Any change in normal equilibrium of the three Doshas results in various ailments. Vitiation of Vatha Vikaras like various arthritic complaints. Pitta causes pitta vikaras like digestive and skin complaints and Kapha causes Kapha Vikaras like respiratory and skin complaints.

Thus Ayurveda recommends that the Tridosha are to be kept in normal equilibrium for an individual to be physically and mentally healthy.

Ayurveda believes in a holistic approach that integrates mind, body and spirit in its procedures. A daily regimen of diet, exercise and personal hygiene creates the innate strength that boosts the immune system, resists diseases and maintains good health.
